Care information

  1. Regular Vacuuming: Vacuum the carpet regularly to remove loose dirt, dust, and debris. Use a vacuum cleaner with a rotating brush or beater bar to thoroughly clean the fibers. Avoid using a vacuum cleaner with a very powerful suction, as this could damage the delicate fibers of the carpet.
  2. Rotate and Flip: To prevent uneven wear, rotate the carpet occasionally. If the carpet is reversible, you can also flip it over from time to time.
  3. Spot Cleaning: Deal with spills and stains promptly. Blot (do not rub) the stain with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then, use a mild detergent mixed with water to gently clean the stained area. Test the detergent on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it doesn't damage the fibers. After cleaning, blot the area with clean water to remove any detergent residue, and then let it air dry.
  4. Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading and discoloration of the carpet. If possible, place the carpet in an area where it is not exposed to strong sunlight.
  5. Rotate Furniture: If you have furniture placed on the carpet, occasionally move the furniture slightly to prevent indentations and uneven wear.
  6. Professional Cleaning: Depending on the amount of foot traffic and use, consider getting your Moroccan carpet professionally cleaned every 1-2 years. Make sure the cleaning service is experienced in handling delicate textiles.
  7. Avoid Heavy Traffic: Moroccan carpets are often handwoven and can be delicate. Avoid placing them in high-traffic areas where they might get stepped on frequently.
  8. Use Rug Pads: Placing a rug pad under the carpet can provide cushioning and prevent the carpet from sliding around. It also helps protect the carpet from wear caused by friction with the floor.
  9. Storage: If you need to store the carpet for an extended period, roll it up with the pile facing inwards to protect it. Avoid folding the carpet, as this can create permanent creases.
